Sarcoidosis

Sarcoidosis is a chronic inflammatory disease of unknown cause that can affect your lungs, lymph glands, and other organs. People with Sarcoidosis, develop nodules (abnormal masses or lumps) consisting of inflamed tissues that may alter the normal structure and function of your affected organ.

The symptoms of Sarcoidosis may include:

  • A Persistent Dry Cough
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Tender Reddish Patches on the Skin
  • Red & Watery Eyes or Blurry Vision
  • Swollen, Joints with Pain
  • Enlarged Lymph Glands in the Chest, Neck, Armpits & Groin
  • Hoarse Voice
  • Abnormal Heart Beats
  • Heart Failure

The exact causes of Sarcoidosis are unknown till now. According to experts, it may be caused by autoimmune diseases, but which factors trigger the response is not known. There is no cure for this disease as of now; however Sarcoidosis may get better over time. People with mild symptoms do not require treatment. Consult your doctor early if you have any of the upper-mentioned symptoms.
